Typing Library is a local-first service with no accounts and no server-side storage. This page explains what the site stores and what it does not collect.

Data stored only on your device

Your uploaded works, typing progress (drafts), result history, collected passages and notes, passage review schedules, selected days and time for the practice calendar reminder, your first 7-day routine choice, local start date and time zone, and display settings are stored in your browser’s IndexedDB. Public works you choose to save offline are kept separately in Cache Storage. This data is never sent to a server and the operator cannot access it. Clearing your browser data deletes it. Any JSON backup you download is managed only on your own device.

One-passage invitations for public works

When you send a public-work passage with native sharing, the selected app receives a link containing the public catalog ID and passage number, the public work title, and a service message. If native sharing is unavailable, the clipboard fallback copies only the link. With optional-cookie consent, GA4 may process that public ID and passage number as part of the page URL, but the source passage, typed input, and personal-work information are excluded from invitation sharing and GA4. Each recipient’s activity stays on their own device.

On-device AI and browser models

When you explicitly request a reflection question or weak-character drill, supported Chrome browsers use the built-in LanguageModel and, when needed, Translator on the device. In memory typing, candidate phrases from the current passage are processed by those built-in models on the device only when you explicitly choose the AI hint button; your memory-typing input is not given to the AI. Source passages, weak characters, generated questions and drills, and the memory-typing passage, input, hidden positions, and hint are not sent to a Typing Library server or GA4. Memory-typing results are not saved to IndexedDB or backups. Chrome may download and manage model files for first use. If AI is unsupported, generation fails, or length, target-character, or translation-marker validation fails, you receive a non-AI prompt or repetition drill. If memory-typing AI is unsupported, fails, or does not pass leakage or structure validation, it falls back to deterministic non-AI masking and one-character hints. A generated drill is saved as a personal work only after you preview and accept it.

Selected excerpts and storage in passage constellations

Passage constellations use the built-in LanguageModel and, when needed, Translator only after you explicitly press the AI button. The only user content sent to AI is exactly the 3 excerpts you selected. The model also receives temporary P1-P3 aliases, the selected lens, the output language, and fixed instructions. Notes, real work or passage IDs, titles, authors, search queries, and typed input are excluded. We ask again for every request that includes a personal work. Excerpts and AI results are not sent to a Typing Library server or GA4. The constellation selection state and AI result preview remain only in memory until you explicitly save, while the source passages remain in their existing local passage-notebook records. Only a constellation you explicitly save is kept in this device’s IndexedDB and may be included in a JSON backup. Chrome may download model files for first use. If AI is unsupported, generation fails, or response validation fails, a non-AI lens question is used. The app does not automatically analyze your notebook, diagnose personality or psychology, or share a result.

Sharing and exports you choose

When you explicitly share text, export Markdown, or save or share a passage card, the selected content is sent to the app, clipboard, or file destination you choose. A passage card contains only the source passage, work, author, and paragraph information; your note is excluded. Nothing happens automatically, and the image is created on your device without passing through a Typing Library server.

Usage analytics (Google Analytics 4)

Only if you allow optional cookies, Google Analytics 4 receives page URLs, browser and device information, and usage events such as page visits, typing starts and completions, reviews, first 7-day routine starts and completions, and export aggregates. Typed text, collected source passages, notes, personal-work information, review dates, reminder days or times, routine dates, time zones, and exact progress counts are not sent. Google processes this information under its own policies and settings, and you can change your choice here at any time.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

When ads are shown, they are served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. Advertising-related Google services load only after optional-cookie consent, and no ads are shown on typing, passage-notebook, or review screens.

Cookies

The site itself sets no login cookies. Your choice for Google Analytics and Google AdSense is stored in the browser and can be changed on this page at any time.

Copyright of public works

Public works are limited to public-domain texts whose copyright has expired, and each work records its source and proof of expiry. Works you upload stay on your device and are never sent to a server; you are responsible for their content.
